They chant, perform traditional dances, share stories and place freshly cut green plants and blossoms in water - representing life, renewal and hope.

Irreecha brings in individuals from all regions of Ethiopia, attendees fly in from globally.

"I visited the previous year - it was so good, so beautiful, I invited my children with me now," mentioned Claire, originating from Belfast in Northern Ireland.

Event Program

The opening day of the festival was held on Saturday in the capital. On Sunday, participants journeyed to Bishoftu, a community just outside the main city.
